Mustafa Gurbuz

Mustafa Gurbuz is a non-resident Middle East Analyst at ACW. His research examines political violence and terrorism, ethnic/sectarian politics in Syria and Iraq, countering violent extremism, Turkish foreign policy, and Kurdish movements. He received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Connecticut and currently teaches courses on Middle East politics in the Arab World Studies program at American University in Washington, DC. Dr. Gurbuz is the author of Rival Kurdish Movements in Turkey: Transforming Ethnic Conflict (Amsterdam University Press, 2016).
