The Board of Directors of Arab Center Washington DC announces that Khalil E. Jahshan is stepping down from full-time work as Executive Director of the Center as of September 1, 2026. The Board extends its heartfelt thanks to Khalil, who has been the heart and soul of the Center’s foundation and mission for the last twelve years. Khalil is embarking on a well-deserved “retirement,” but will continue to serve as Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors.
To continue Khalil’s legacy, the Center is delighted to announce that Tamara Kharroub, the Center’s long-time Deputy Executive Director and Senior Fellow, will assume the position of Executive Director of the Center. Tamara brings a wealth of academic and leadership experience to her new role, having led the Center (with Khalil) through an exciting period of growth and engagement. She is superbly suited to lead Arab Center’s talented team of academics and researchers in continuing to expand outreach, foster partnerships, and contribute to a fuller understanding of the region’s complexities.
