Reem Khamis-Dakwar (Ph.D., CCC-SLP) is an Associate Professor and Chair of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Department at Adelphi University in New York. She earned her Ph.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University and is a certified speech-language pathologist. She teaches courses on language development, speech-language services for culturally and linguistically diverse populations, and neuroscience and communication disorders. She is also the director of the Neurophysiology in Speech-Language Pathology Lab (NSLPLab), where she conducts clinically relevant neurophysiological studies relating to typical and atypical language development. Her area of expertise focuses on the neurocognitive representation of the two language varieties in Arabic diglossia (spoken dialect and Modern Standard Arabic), clinical speech pathology assessment and intervention within the sociolinguistic situation of Arabic diglossia in particular and for individuals from diverse populations at large.
