Yehia Abed (MD, MPH, DrPH) is Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Faculty of Public Health at Al-Quds University in Gaza. His main are of expertise is the epidemiology of communicable and noncommunicable diseases. Educated at Johns Hopkins University, Abed’s research interests include programs addressing children’s public health issues in Gaza, including immunization, growth and nutrition, health service research, and review of the Palestinian healthcare system. His previous positions include serving as the Dean of the School of Public Health at Al-Quds University, Director General of Health Planning, Research & Development Administration at the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health, Health Policy Advisor with the Italian Cooperation, and both the Director and Deputy Director General for Primary Health Care in Gaza. He has over 40 years experience as a medical practitioner, administrator, educator, and researcher.
Yousef Munayyer is a Non-resident Senior Fellow at Arab Center Washington DC (ACW), where he specializes in the Arab-Israeli conflict. He also serves as a member of the editorial committee of the Journal of Palestine Studies. Some of his published articles can be found in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Nation, Boston Globe, Foreign Policy, Journal of Palestine Studies, Middle East Policy, and others. Previously he was Executive Director of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights and Executive Director of the Palestine Center. Munayyer holds a PhD in International Relations and Comparative Politics from the University of Maryland.
